Time to Detox – Boosting Energy Levels & Cutting Sugar Cravings
Anyone who is close to me knows that I have a serious sugar addiction. I joke around and say that I workout so I can eat donuts, candy, and cake.
The more sugar I eat, the more I crave.
Time For Change
Decisions, Decisions … ProLon, D.TOX. or Gut Fix?
Each of the three programs have a unique purpose… so when thinking about which one is best for me, I have to consider my specific goals as well as what’s going on in my life. For example, I’m currently training for the upcoming Chequamegon Mountain Bike Race. My digestive health feels good overall, so I’m not looking for a calming or corrective solution. I take a strong probiotic and I do glutamine every day and I’m not trying to drop weight. I really just want to cut back on sugar and improve my energy levels. So let’s dive in and evaluate my options:
Recently, there has been a lot of hype about the benefits of intermittent fasting, which makes me tempted to try Dr. Kamy’s suggestion, ProLon. This is an intermittent fasting plan, and comes with a single daily meal (which is not really a MEAL sort of meal, but more of a nutrition bar with a nutritional drink). It’s pretty much a strait-up fast, so calorie intake is very little. Because I’m currently training for the bike race, I can’t do a 5 day fast – I need more calories during my training.
- Length: 5 days
- Intensity: Moderately intense
- Focus: ProLon was designed to improve overall health and wellness. It optimizes muscle and mental performance, promotes cellular regeneration and improves metabolic health.
This includes a plant-based protein powder, a fiber powder and includes a guide complete with a food list, menus and grocery shopping guide. Because I’ve done this one before, I’m familiar with the D.TOX foods and program.
- Length: 14 days
- Intensity: Easy-peasy
- Focus: D.TOX is designed to specifically reset eating habits, improve energy levels and support overall health. The kit provides the nutrients needed to cleanse and eliminate toxins.
The Gut Fix is a modified elimination diet designed to improve digestive health and calm flare-ups from food sensitivities and allergies. The kit includes digestive enzymes, a daily probiotic, l-glutamine powder and a food guide.
- Length: 4 weeks
- Intensity: easy/moderate
- Focus: Gut Fix is formulated to optimize digestive health. The health and integrity of our digestive system has an enormous impact on our overall health which is why I like this option as a basic system cleanup and reset once or twice each year.
My Choice?
I’m choosing D.TOX because of it’s focus on resetting eating habits and improving energy levels, which is exactly what I need right now. The detox option will also help cleanse, purify and renew my body. At some point, I want to try ProLon, but it will be at a time when I can take a break from my work-outs and when I’m not training for anything. I’ll be starting D.TOX soon, so follow along on Instagram where I’ll be posting updates to let you know how it’s going!
