My Anti-Aging, Energy-Packed Breakfast Shake

I’m a busy mom of three and know what it’s like to have five minutes to make yourself breakfast. On those busy mornings, a breakfast shake is a great way to quickly get the nutrients your body needs for the day ahead. One of my favorite shakes not only tastes good but also includes a few ingredients formulated to help you look and feel young!

I use L-Glutamine powder, beef protein, nut butter and some type of milk. These ingredients help stabilize blood sugar levels and provide a sustained release of energy all morning.

  • Beef collagen is a great protein alternative if you have dairy issues. I prefer this protein because it is good for skin, hair and nails.
  • Glutamine supplementation can minimize breakdown of muscle and will improve protein metabolism. There are more recent studies that show heavier doses of glutamine (2 scoops, 3 times a day) will help build the intestinal wall for people who have gut issues.
  • Nut butter – I like to use a tablespoon of nut butter for the flavor and to add some healthy fat. I rotate between peanut, almond, cashew, macadamia, and sun butter. Incorporating these healthy fats helps reduce sugar and carb cravings.
  • Milk – I rotate between coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk and hemp milk. If you have food sensitivities or food allergies it is a good idea to rotate foods. This means to eat one type of food on one day, then wait four days before eating it again. A rotation diet also helps to prevent the development of new food allergies. For people who are allergy prone or have gut issues, it is really important to rotate foods as any food eaten regularly can aggravate allergy symptoms or even cause new allergies.
